Canadian Wind Rider sponsors 3rd Annual Lake Simcoe Wind Sports Festival

Saturday January 22 and Sunday January 23, 2005, 11:00-15:30 hrs ET

Sunday January 23 News: A few cms of snow have fallen over night. The forecast for Sunday looks like it will be a more pleasant day with sun, wind and of course again the cold. Bring your shovels if you're interested in building ramps. It will keep you warm!

What Wind Powered Ice & Snow Sailing Sports

  • Ontario and Québec's finest group of ice and snow sailors of all ages will be showing you how they spend their winter outdoors

  • You'll see kite skiing, kite snowboarding, Snowfering, Uniboarding, Skimbats, ram air kites, inflatable kites, ice buggies, and more.

Wind Riders and spectators please check in with one of the organizers when you get there to sign a waiver and receive your event promotional package or you can pre-register and give the completed form to one of the events organizers when you arrive.

Parking Please obey all the displayed parking signs in the area. The event organizers realize parking may be a challenge for the weekend, but we're asking everyone to do there best to respect the community on their day at the lake. Depending on ice conditions, parking may be available on the lake.

Activity times

  • 11:00-11:15hrs Opening ceremonies, kites in the air for a photo opportunity

  • 12:15-12:30hrs Safe & Easy Launching & Retrieval Techniques for Foil Kites

  • 13:00-14:00hrs Big Air Freestyle (Snowboards and Skis)

  • 11:00-15:30hrs Equipment Swap, Merchant Promotions

  • 16:30-19:00hrs Dinner (Heros Keswick) 700 The Queensway South, 905.989.1900, during dinner the Snow Kite Addict#2 DVD will be played on their 8 foot screen

  • 19:00 (conditions permitting) full-moon night sail

  • Extra set of clothes for the evening as you're day clothes will be damp

Equipment Swap The event organizers are trying something new this year. We know there are people looking for used or trying to get rid of equipment. Bring your equipment and your cash. We'll connect you with the owners and buyers. If you miss one another at the festival, all the buyers and sellers will be listed here.

Local information at Lake Simcoe Bring your FRS radio to the event. When you get to the lake, if you have any questions or need assistance, use channel 4 on your FRS Radio. The event organizers will be monitoring this channel to support you for the day.
