Press Release, for immediate release February 3, 2004

Announcing 2nd Annual Lake Simcoe Wind Sports Festival, February 21/22, 2004

Extremely White Hot Winter Wind Powered Sports Festival for Skiers, Snow Boarders, and Board Sailors

Once again signalling the middle of the winter sailing season when the ice is thickest and the winds are strongest, skill and passion abound as wind seekers young and old enjoy free riding in the outdoors.

Although many of the ice and snow sailing sports have been around since the early eighty’s, the popularity of, the summer-time equivalent, kite surfing over the last four years has brought more visibility to kite  powered winter activities.

Now in its second year, the festival brings together some of the most experienced ice and snow kiting enthusiasts across Ontario and Québec.

It is held each year on the southeast shores of Lake Simcoe which offers a sailable terrain twenty-five times larger than the total skiable terrain in Whistler, British Columbia.

The Lake Simcoe Wind Sports Festival is proud and grateful for support from: Canadian Wind Rider, Toronto Kite Flyers, Kitchener Waterloo Wind Climbers, Silent Sports the Georgina Chamber of Commerce, and many individual donors.

About:

The Lake Simcoe Wind Sports Festival is an independent, not-for-profit recreational sport event whose mission is to support and promote the interest and safety of ice and snow sailing.
