What it takes to be a good traction kite dealer |
|
This talks about
-
Power kiting is not that simple
-
Deal with experienced people
-
And read the on-line groups too!
|
|
Selling traction kites is not like selling regular
kites that you can buy at the local corner mart. It
takes the kind of care and attention to the customer
like that of someone selling bikes, skis, wind
surfers, or specialized outdoor equipment like a
parachute for jumping out of a plane. There's a
relationship that starts with finding out about the
customer's intent. Where do they what to take this
interest and find the right equipment for them can
be a challenge all itself with all the different
types out there. Let's face it, the risk is there
and people need education/guidance and training.
We're not talking a lot of time. Only a few hours to
get them going and then as a guide if they choose to
over the long term. |
|
You'll need an understanding of the equipment. The
best way is to have experienced staff; people out
using it. Although some of the sports have been
around for a few years, the equipment is still
undergoing change. In order to be competitive, you
need to stay on top of this change. We find the only
way for our dealers to do this is if they're active
riders themselves. There's no short cut in this
learning program other than experience itself or
learning directly form someone else that has
experience. Another source of information
specifically on the Peter Lynn Twin Skins is
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/arcusers/.
This is one of the best sources of information and
collection of the most knowledgeable people out
there using the products. |
|
Some of our dealers have as much as ten or fifteen
years experience. These are the kind of people you
want to buy from. These are people that have been
around and can give good advice. We're also finding
a growing number of new dealers in the sport that
realize it's potential. Some of them are taking
lessons and becoming certified instructors. These
are also good people to get started with. |
