Kite Surf Boards

Decay Kite Boards, Kiteboards - Design specifically for Kite Surfing

Technology

Decay kiteboards (kite boards) was started to address what they saw as the major issue faced when trying to buy a kiteboard - Custom board performance vs. Production board construction and graphics. Every where you looked you could either get a high performance kiteboard or a long lasting/good looking kiteboard - but never both.

Custom kiteboards generally ride very well with good flex/pop, but have rails that are easily worn/damaged. Their paint finishes mean graphics (if any) are usually quite plain, and even the best paints in the world don't last long around sand and rocks.

Production kiteboards on the other hand, with their molded plastic shells look good and can take the knocks. Their on the water performance, however, is always less than ideal, usually stiff and heavy. Also the same plastic shell that helps protect the board is almost impossible to repair if it does get damaged.

Decay Kiteboards has finally been able to bridge the gap. Their boards are built using a unique vacuum bagging process that allows a machined PVC core to be combined with a precured custom epoxy base, double cap or plastic side wall rails and a range of layups to suit different riders. A process that finally gives a hard wearing, high performance custom kiteboard.

T-max layup

T-max is a new approach to the way kiteboards are constructed. Using a mix of 45degree Biax and Uni-directional reinforcements, Decay has been able to produce a board with good flex in the tips - for power control and 'pop' - without losing torsion strength where it is most needed.

These reinforcements are combined with a high strength laminating epoxy resin in a single step vacuum bagging process.

Double cap rails

The strongest rails Decay could build into a kiteboard!

Double cap means they add extra glass into the 'seam' between the top and bottom laminate. The result is 5mm of solid glass around the edge of the board.

Deck Graphics

Unique to their process, the deck graphics are laminated into the board during construction. Embedded under a clear layer of fiberglass the graphics are an integral part of the board, and can't be scratched off.

Precured base

Their own mix - precured under heat and pressure - this base material contains high wear/antichip additives. Being epoxy it has a perfect chemical bond with the rest of the board.

Even the best base materials do sometimes get damaged. Being epoxy, however, repairs to this base are quick and easy using common epoxy resins and fillers.

For 2005 we are pleased to be able to offer a choice of four different base colours; red (not shown), blue, orange, and green.

G10 Fins

New shape TT's fins for 2005 - three sizes, all with a common 160mm base length. Thread is metric 6mm on standard wakeboard 38mm mounting hole spacing.

For the directional boards there are 3 sizes of surf fin - 75mm, 85mm and 100mm.

All of the fins are hand foiled from high pressure laminated G10 epoxy/fiberglass sheet which over time has been shown to take the knocks better than anything else.

All fins attached with two bolts - its stronger than single bolt/pin mounting and you are much less likely to lose a fin due to a loose bolt.

Grab Handle

Tall, light weight with a soft grip, designed with those big board off moves in mind.
