Peter Lynn - Safety Notices

Authorized Canadian Wind Rider Dealers
Notice
2006.Nov.06-Important notice - Updated Peter Lynn Zero4 Bar Manual

We have had a very few bars with a small production error on the safety leash attachment of the Zero7 Pro Carbon bar. As we believe in maximum safety for all Peter Lynn users, we recommend a small modification to prevent any problems in the future.

All users should attach their leash to the bar using a slightly different method than described in the manual supplied with the bar. Do not attach the leash to the safety leash attachment on the self landing handle.  Instead, attach it directly to the ring where the self landing handle is attached to, as shown in the attached picture below.

We would also like you to ask you to:

  • replace the current manual with a new one (Adobe PDF) for any bars you have

  • take the leash off the self landing handle by undoing the larks head knot.

2005.Nov.24-Important notice - Updated Peter Lynn Zero4 Bar Manual

We would like to inform you that there have been some problems with the Zero4 Pro carbon bars. As in some exceptional cases the Leash guide ring on the power adjusting strap may stop the safety system from working properly, a very small modification needs to be made.

This affects the following items:

  • AKPL0040    Zero4 bar 40cm

  • AKPL0041    Zero4 bar 50cm

  • AKPL0042    Zero4 bar 60cm

  • AKPL0060    Zero4 depower set

  • AKPL0063    Zero4 power adjuster + safety leash

The following changes need to be made:

  1. An updated manual (pdf reader) has been released.

  2. The leash needs to be removed from the D-ring on the power adjusting strap (see picture below).

We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Thank you for your cooperation. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.

Best regards,

The Peter Lynn team

2005.Mar.09-Important notice- Tip collapsing of earlier Venom 13s

Please note that this only regards Venom 13s from the first batch of kites produced and sold around March 2005. If you purchased a Venom 13 now, you will not have to worry about this issue.

A small number of Venoms released in the beginning of production were prone to tip collapse in a very rare occasion. Despite random testing of production kites, a small number were sent out. Please note that it concerns only a limited number of kites.

Please be assured that this production error has been identified and eliminated. We sincerely apologize to those unfortunate Venom users for any inconvenience caused by it.

If you believe your kite has this problem please contact us immediately.

2004.Nov.22-There needs to be a small adjustment which must be made immediately to the Zero4 carbon bars. These are the bars that ship with all Ready To Fly Peter Lynn Twin Skins.

Please read the following link:
http://www.peterlynnkiteboarding.com/news/news009.html. We would like to
get this information to the end-users as fast as possible.

The photo below clearly shows which leash attachment needs to be modified
when attaching the bars to the lines.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this matter.  If you need any
more information, please contact us directly.

Sincerely Peter Lynn Kite Boarding

2004.May.05 (updated 2005.Jul.07) -In May of 2004, there was a batch of Guerilla-IIs and Bombas that had over hand knots on the pigtails instead of figure eights. Over hand knots can slide and should not be used. It's also easier to untie and adjust figure 8 knots.

In general on all kites, specifically the pig tails on the Twin Skins, please check the knots and verify the following. The pigtials are made from two lines knotted at each end and the pair together. All of these knots should be figure eights to prevent slippage. To ensure all the knot are correct, untie the three knots (2 ends and 1 joining knot). Start with tying a figure eight knot; one in each end of the pigtail. Try to keep the knots near the end but not so far as the knot can slip; you need to have a little bit of line for the line to bit on itself. Then put the pair of pigtails together and tie a figure eight that's close to the pigtail ends. This last knot will lock slightly against the two ends. Take up any unevenness at the kite end of the loop. Any additional knots on the pigtails that you may apply for adjusting, please use figure eight knots.

We'll try to get some pictures up soon if you're not familiar with knots.
