Trikke
3-wheel cambering vehicles provide riders of all ages
and skill levels to experience a new way to propel
themselves on wheels, getting a full-body workout in the
process. Utilizing a combination of arm thrust,
twisting, shifting of body weight and coordinated
timing, the three wheels provide the rider with a
naturally stable platform on which to ride. Trikke’s
patented cambering technology allows the three-wheeled
vehicle to “camber” (or “lean”) from side to side while
keeping all three wheels on the ground. This unique
cambering ability opens the door to a variety of fun
physical fitness activities, all experienced while
riding around on a stable and ergonomically designed
3-wheeled vehicle.
Physical educators will find that the Trikke 3-wheelers
provide fun and satisfying challenges for students of
all skill levels, while enhancing overall health and
well-being by utilizing all the major muscle groups and
developing cardiovascular fitness in a low-impact and
mentally engaging manner. Coordination, balance and
agility are also developed as students learn the
importance of turning, leaning and transferring weight
at just the right time to create the forward momentum.
As well, each student will learn confidence as they
master this completely new and fun method of propulsion
that can be enjoyed for the rest of their life, all the
while enhancing their muscle strength, muscle endurance,
cardio respiratory fitness, and overall well-being.
If you
have fun on your side, the battle’s already half over.
If you don’t, it’s going to be tough going for a lot of
students. The most common result from riding a Trikke
3CV is fun, that’s why many have come to call the Trikke
3CV “The Ultimate Fun Fitness Machine.” Students will be
getting a thrill from carving a series of deep turns or
mastering a new maneuver, all the while getting a
phenomenal full-body, cardio respiratory workout.
While the Trikke 3-wheelers can be used in a more
competitive format, we have found that in the early
stages, it is best for the encouragement of all
students, if they are only competing with themselves, so
as not to alienate students of lesser natural athletic
ability. In this way, all kids can experience an
activity that promotes their physical and emotional
health and fitness for life.
Leighton Nakamoto, a PE
Teacher at Kalama Intermediate School went out on a limb
in early 2006 and began implementing Trikke 3CVs into
his PE classes. His results were wildly successful and
his students are much better off because of it.
Every class size is
different depending on the school size. Few schools are
able to afford to put each and every student on a Trikke
at the same time, though obviously it is ideal if you
can. For those that can’t, we recommend that they
purchase half of their class size. That way half of the
students can be on the Trikke CVs, and the other half
can be engaging in a different activity. Half way
through the class, they can trade off. For schools that
can afford even fewer than half the class size, we
recommend them buying 1 or 2 and making it a “station”
activity. Lots of schools can only afford 1 or 2 items,
and what they do is set up “stations” in a gymnasium
where the kids have to make the rounds doing each
activity.
What
are the ages of the target students?
Kindergarten (age 5) to High
School. Though the majority that purchase for the school
program are Middle School (6th grade to high school).
How many hours a week
were the Trikkes being used?
Each school is different.
Some use the Trikke every other day. Some use them once
a week to keep the various PE activities interesting.
Which models do students
enjoy most?
We usually sell a mix of
T67s &
T78cs to middle schools (6th
– 8th grades) and high schools only purchase the T78cs
or T78Air (for students
or teachers greater than 200 lbs).
Students prefer riding the polyurethane wheel models
over the air tires. They are also easier to learn to
ride on and use.
Which models do the
teachers prefer?
The recommendation is either
a T78air (or
T78air deluxe) or
a T8air. Teachers
generally prefer the comfort of the all air wheels since
they will be on the product for longer stretches of
time. Plus, it sets the Teacher's Trikke apart from the
students.
How are the Trikkes
maintained?
Most schools have set up a
schedule on the first of the month, they hand out Allen
wrenches and the kids all check/tighten all of the bolts
just as general maintenance.
