This will be my first PL. I currently ride a couple
of Airush flows, 10/14. The Twin Skins seem to have
some serious advantages over LEIs. There's a reason
airplane wings are shaped like Twin Skins and not
LEIs. I live in ... and we are prone to gusty
conditions here, and by the sounds of it nothing
beats the Venom for gusty sessions. Brad

Any way I wanted to give an opinion on the
3D pads and straps I got a few weeks back, i
put them on a smaller board that I thought I
wouldn't ride much but as it turns out I've
used them for about 3 hours (3x1 hour
sessions) stiff at first and felt kind of
loose but they seamed to have seated in and
are quite comfy, I guess the thing i like
most is you can slip into and out of them
easily. Just kick it off if you need a fast
escape or cup your toes and it stays
with you. Now this is a smaller board and
really light so that might have something to
do with it. But very little I would guess.
So they get my thumbs up if anyone asks.

I think the Phantom-12 is a very depowerable
kite and handles the top end like a good lei of
the 10-12 size. However even the the Phantom
series is much more forgiving in gusts than any
LEI I have ridden and perfect for winter. You
know that already. I also agree that the
Phantom-12 would be the most popular size for
snow if 1 kite is all you would buy. For light
riders the the Phantom-9 would be my call. I
don't have a lot of experience with foils but
the 5m or 6m would compare to the Phantom-12. I
know a 6.4 Blade is similar to a 12m LEI more or
less on water at least.
I think for people comparing the 2 it really
boils down to price really. The Phantom, Venom
and Guerilla-II are just so much more useful for
traction on snow or water that once they get
past the basic playing then they should
encouraged to go for a 4 line Twin Skin.
In the end the Twin Skin is the best buy for a 4
season rider without question! If you are
a beginner for winter then a Phantom-12 or Venom
will go from 5-20mph. Then add a big one for the
really light stuff or heavy snow or water. Most
people can't deal with over 20mph for a while
anyway.
My experience with arcs has been very good on
snow but on water so far I have mostly done LEI
so my comments are biased that way a bit.
Looking forward to some 20+ breeze and good
traction to see how high I can make my
Phantom-12 go!
Cheers

The
3.5 meter Peter Lynn Rebble kite was comfortable,
responsive and it gave me an good work-out for the
time I flew it. I found the kite smooth and
powerful. Just what the doctor ordered. Being
involved with wind-powered sport and tuning my sails
for last 20+ years, it is nice to see clean foil in
the air. The kite was vary pleasing to my eyes as it
hovered over my head, whistling to me "What are you
gone do about it?".

Reading about how these kites fly is one
thing. But Grant actually makes the reality fun,
logical and exciting. He carefully explains the
theoretical, and how that relates to the kite's
performance. A well
developed teaching plan allowed this newbie
to progress with confidence, on my first
outing. And the Peter Lynn kite systems are both
innovative, and well thought out. Using a
qualified instructor and a great product helped
me enjoy this spectacular new sport immediately,
and avoid any pitfalls. It is the way to
go (up) !! ;-)

... his easygoing and relaxed manner made learning
kite skiing effortless. I found myself gibing and
skiing upwind with his help, something I had been
struggling with for many sessions. I would highly
recommend him.

for organizing the Simcoe Festival. You did a
sterling job. It was a well organized, successful
event with a great turnout. And the weather was
fantastic. What are you going to put in the goody

Safe &
Easy Launching & Retrieval Techniques for Foil Kites
Thank you for giving your time to show safe and easy
launch/retrieval techniques at the festival. I
learned many tips about kite snowboarding,
especially about safely launching. By using these
tips, I feel safer while preparing and launching my
kite.

Safe &
Easy Launching & Retrieval Techniques for Foil Kites
I attended the Kite Setup session presented by Grant
Fitz at the first day of the Festival and I found it
very informative. I have recently started traction
kiting. I really enjoy my 3m foil kite but tangling
and retrieval issues have made me frustrated several
times. During this session, I got some good tips
which will minimize my setup time.

Keeping
the customer first
I appreciate awesome customer service! You will be
the only place I give my business as far as kiting
is concerned from now on. I will also recommend your
business to other people who are interested in
getting started in this hobby. In my town when I fly
my kite, small crowds often gather and the first
question is usually "where can i get one of those?"
I'll be sure to let them know Canadian Wind Rider is
who you want to deal with!
